What is a MODCHIP?

The modchip is a small microchip (formally known as the PIC12c508 chip) used to power up the SONY PLAYSTATION(PSX) to be able to play copies and imports. Because it must send electrical signals to and from the modchip, this chip must be soldered onto the PSX motherboard( not a tough job with a modchip from the MILLENNIUM MODCHIP).
